Let’s Talk About Bias
Unconscious Bias is the biggest disabler of diversity. We all have bias, but do we realize the impact it has on our decision making, both privately as well as at work? Are you aware of your own biases?
[Bias: Inclination or prejudice for or against one person or group, especially in a way considered to be unfair.]
Snap assessments of others, positive or negative, is something we all do on a daily basis. These quick categorisations of individuals – typically towards gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, age, disability and weight – are called biases. They are formed by past situations, experiences, background and culture. Becoming aware of our own biases and changing our behaviours is key in contributing to a more diverse and inclusive society.
In our second outing with KeyNote Women Speakers, we aim to start the process of making the unconscious conscious and take a first step in reducing our own biases. Are you brave enough to become an alley or even an advocate to move the needle in these courageous conversations?
Our experienced speaker panel will kick off by explaining what bias is, share their inspirational, personal stories before engaging on this topic in a panel discussion.
Please join us for this inspiring evening!
