Our brains are set up to store information as stories. And stories activate our imaginations, which makes it hard not to get pulled in when the first words you hear from a speaker are “Today, I’m going to tell you the story of…”. The audience can’t help but be immersed, making it all the more likely they will remember the story, the key messages and, if relevant, be persuaded.
But how do you become a good storyteller, and what makes you a good storyteller in different settings and contexts? There are various techniques and methods that expert storytellers use to engage audiences emotionally, to highlight a particular area of interest, and to create curiosity and excitement.
Coen Tan has developed an intimate understanding of the art and science of compelling storytelling by studying various fields, from theatre and acting, to script-writing, to marketing and advertising. He combines this with his years of experience as a speaker and coach to bring you this signature workshop.
During this workshop, he will bring you through the different story formats, methods for crafting a story and how to master the elements that make up a gripping and engaging story.
