There will be a local chef serving famous local delights like TuTu Kueh.
Kueh tutu, a popular Singaporean steamed cake, is primarily made of finely pounded rice flour. It typically contains a filling of either ground peanuts or grated coconut cooked with gula melaka (palm sugar). The rice flour is steamed in a special mould, often a flower shape, to create the distinctive soft, fluffy texture.
For many Singaporeans, kueh tutu represents a slice of their culinary heritage and a beloved sweet treat. Its origins are rooted in Singapore’s diverse cultural landscape, with the snack’s name, “tutu,” derived from the sound of the traditional steamers used in its preparation. The steamed rice flour cakes, often filled with coconut and palm sugar, are a nostalgic reminder of past generations and the hawker culture that thrives in Singapore. The flower-shaped moulds used to create the kueh tutu are also associated with the chrysanthemum, a common sight in the gardens of early Singaporean immigrants.
