Who has the cards?
Join our Rabobank’s Financial Markets Research experts for their signature Financial Market Outlook, an overview and analysis of what lies ahead for financial markets in the year to come. Global Strategist Michael Every will take you on a deep dive across the extraordinary cyclical and structural macro, market, and geopolitical risks that will criss-cross and conflate over 2026.
A few months ago, US President Donald Trump told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, “You don’t have the cards”. And he wasn’t wrong; Zelenskyy didn’t.
As we look to 2026, it’s time to underline the real game that is being played on the world stage, in which the Russia-Ukraine conflict is just one round of many. The real game lies in reshaping the global trading and financial architecture and who holds the global reserve currency in the longer term.
We will look at the hand each key player is holding and their grand macro strategy, making the case for who looks most like a winner, who has got a deck of losing cards, and what the economic and market implications might be.
Don’t shuffle into the new year without hearing what our Ace team has to say!
These are indeed extraordinary times. And it is crucial for all participants and companies operating within the finance and banking sphere to understand this unprecedented global backdrop of geopolitical volatility – expressed through machinations, contestations, tribulations, and regulations – if they want to minimise the potential risks and obstacles around them, as well as maximise growth opportunities at the same time. Don’t miss out on leveraging the Rabobank Asia 2025 Financial Market Outlook as an important resource for you in the fourth quarter, as you map out your strategies and make key decisions for the upcoming year.
