The future is female. A pandemic pause is giving the world the opportunity to reflect, recalibrate and almost do a global reset. As we celebrate IWD2021 with the call to #ChooseToChallenge, UnMuted introspects how the pandemic has been an accelerator for women entrepreneurs and leaders to press forward.
UnMuted kicks off with a 45-minute virtual plenary session with speakers Aarathi Arumugam (KeyNote) and Dymfke Kuijpers (McKinsey) setting the tone for the afternoon with their respective talks.
This will be followed by in-person circles at member’s houses. Five members will host up to 8 people and each will welcome one of the circle speakers. The circle speaker will engage the group in a constructive conversation over 60 minutes, to inspire, empower and connect. We have only five tables, it’s on a first come first serve basis.
The circles will transition to a wine presentation by Chin Chin, followed by drinks and networking until 8.00pm.
The programme
5.00pm – 5.30pm: Virtual public session with two plenary speakers. Attendees are already at members houses and will listen to the speakers together.
5.30pm – 6.30pm: Circle sessions at members houses. Five members welcome you into their homes.
- ~ 15 mins by circle speaker followed by discussion and Q&A
- 5 intimate circles of 9 members each, led by a circle speaker who continues the theme set by the plenary speakers
- The circle speaker starts off with sharing their own lived experiences from the pandemic and circles back to their key take-aways and how they UnMuted and made a difference.
6.30pm – 8pm: Networking, including wine presentation by Chin Chin

Aarathi Arumugam from KeyNote speaks about her triumphs and tribulations as an entrepreneur during Covid and how she came out the other end richer in experience and wisdom.
Dymfke Kuijpers from McKinsey gives a statistical backdrop to the theme.

Minnie will speak about how the pandemic shaped her contributions as a leader at WeConnect; as well as in her personal/philanthropic life, the lessons that she took away and is now able to put to use this year to create change for women around her.

As a creative director and a mother of 2, Uma is no stranger to roller-coaster years. The pandemic pause enabled her to step-up and step out, follow her passion projects, and launch her own agency, thereby allowing her in many ways to challenge the norm and initiate the change that she wished to see. - Charlotte Nors (Singapore Repertory Theatre)
The love for producing live theatre has been at the core of Charlotte’s career and her 20 years with SRT has been an amazing journey of small and big plays and productions. How did she steer the team through eight months of dark stages, and what are some of her hopes for the arts in a post-pandemic world. - Dian Anderson (Ashoka)
Dian will discuss how her life was impacted during the pandemic and how she was able to cope with the uncertain choices she had to make. Along with touching up on how her work with women social entrepreneurs with Ashoka allowed for her to continue moving and contributing to society during the pandemic. - Karolina Gwinner (KeyNote)
When the pandemic hit, Karolina lost her income that was completely dependent on in-person speaking opportunities. Also, she was stressed about the wellbeing of her parents and sisters who are all doctors fighting against the virus. Karolina chose to challenge the situation by reinventing her business, reaching new heights and building a community to empower women leaders. Her story is about discovering what truly matters and leading with courage and compassion.
