Synopsis:
Supply chains in Asia are a powerful contributor to the region’s economic growth, but they are also facing increased vulnerabilities. Covid-19 is now having a ripple effect throughout the region’s supply chain ecosystem, with its impact already being felt, as blank sailing, cancellation of flights and shipping on cargo, labor shortages, and more occurs. But the bigger impact on business in the region is expected to come in the next 3 – 6 months as inventories run out and contracts are terminated.
For many businesses, Business Continuity Plans and Crisis Management Plans have already been activated but uncertainty still remains as the magnitude of Covid-19’s impact continues to unfold. How should businesses handle terminations of supply chain contracts, such as suppliers exercising the contractual application of Force Majeure clauses and the role of Singapore’s Frustrated Contracts Act? What are the implications of Covid-19 on business strategy and recovery, and how can companies quickly develop their policies to manage a crisis? How will sustained delays in manufacturing and delivery affect the region’s supply chain ecosystem?
Join AmCham to learn from industry experts on how they are responding to the evolving Covid-19 situation and how they are preparing for different future scenarios.
