The importance of the Mother Tongue and raising multilingual
Maintaining the mother tongue is essential for a successful academic development of a multilingual child/person. Continuing to develop the mother tongue also has a positive effect on the language (s) spoken at school. During this webinar you will gain insight into the way in which our brains acquire and develop languages, the advantages of multilingualism and useful tips to actively support the mother tongue at home.
About the speaker
Jeannette Sibma is a teacher, she develops a language curriculum for LanguageOne and is training/coaching teachers and parents in the field of multilingualism.
It is her passion to support teachers and parents in maintaining and successfully developing a child’s entire language repertoire. As a (multilingual) Frisian, she has experience working with multilingual students in regular and internationals schools in the Netherlands, Malawi, Singapore and Abu Dhabi. From 2013-2015 she enjoyed working for the Hollandse School in Singapore.
