Event Details:
During this morning, DutchCham and the Young Professionals Committee dwell on the topic of mental health, because it is becoming a bigger issue than ever before – worldwide. Let’s look at the numbers, underscoring the prevalence and urgency of mental health concerns.:
Moreover, we see a global trend that mental health is declining with each successive younger generation. Why is that? Living in Singapore, the relentless pace of urban life can take a toll on well-being. The city-state’s competitive environment and societal expectations contribute to stress, anxiety, and depression, making mental health awareness crucial. Let’s dive into the topic during this event, and figure out what we can do to stop this trend and take better care of ourselves.
Elke Eggens – Psychologist & Coach
“Life is what happens to you while you’re making other plans” (John Lennon). How to deal with burnout, illness or other life events? In her own practice, Elke helps (mainly) women to cope with their mental health problems. She also provides training programs in the Netherlands for social care professionals to become more psychologically flexible. Elke works as an (online & outdoor) psychologist, coach and trainer, using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as a major pillar of her work. Maaike Adriaansen-Klerkx – Expat Entrepreneur
Maaike has been living in Singapore since January 2023 and has over 25 years of experience in People & Strategy. She brings her professional expertise in motivation, purpose, coaching, and developing value-driven strategies to the table in a creative and personal way. Maaike took the opportunity to go to Singapore with her husband to exchange juggling with 100 balls for 100% (re)discovery. Her own experience and journey of discovery as a newcomer (and ‘Dependant’) in a foreign country has inspired her to set up the Expat Onboarding Program SingaporeandYou (or visit their Instagram: @singaporeandyou).
